Homeschoolers in Tennessee need our help!
A bill has JUST been introduced in Tennessee by RINO Rep. Slater that would blow a hole straight through homeschool freedom in what has long been one of the better states for parents and children.
If H.B 1729 passes, Tennessee’s homeschool laws would be dragged down to the level of some of the worst homeschool states in America — states like New York, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania, where bureaucrats, testing mandates, and government oversight dominate homeschooler’s education decisions!
That is not an exaggeration.
This bill is dangerous, and it must be stopped.
Here is what this legislation would do. Every one of the following points is confirmed in the bill text.
🚫 1. Forced Reporting of Test Results: All homeschool test results would have to be submitted not only to the parent, but also to the local director of schools AND the state board of indoctrination… erm..education!
This creates a permanent government paper trail on homeschool children and invites escalating state control. It’s outrageous.
🚫2. State-mandated Consultation and Remediation: If a child does not score high enough, parents would be required to consult with government-approved officials and “experts” to “fix” their homeschool program. This is the government inserting itself directly into how parents educate their children!
🚫 3. Forced Enrollment if Bureaucrats are Not Satisfied.
If a student doesn’t meet their expectations, the bill allows a local school official to FORCE parents to enroll their child in a public school!
🚫 4. Reinforces Mandatory Standardized Testing: Homeschool students in grades 5, 7, and 9 must take a nationally normed standardized test.
This part isn’t new, but it’s still worth pointing out that instead of filing a bill to do away with standardized testing, this Republican is using that standardized testing as a club to beat homeschoolers with and expand regulation over us!
That is the end of homeschool freedom in Tennessee.
This bill does not protect children.
It punishes parents, empowers bureaucrats, and treats homeschool families like suspects instead of responsible caregivers.
