The Florida Department of Education’s latest annual report on home education confirms what we’ve seen on the ground—an unprecedented surge in families choosing educational freedom.
For the 2023-24 school year, a stunning 155,532 students were homeschooled in Florida, representing a powerful 46.6% increase since the 2019-20 academic year.
This is not a passing trend. It’s a grassroots revolution, with parents making the courageous choice to direct their children’s learning in a way that best suits their family’s needs.
The data shows that after a monumental surge of 35.2% during the 2020-21 school year, the growth has remained steady, cementing homeschooling as a cornerstone of educational choice in the state.

Why are so many families joining this movement? The reasons are as varied as the families themselves, but a Pew Research Center study cited by Newsweek found that parents are primarily driven by a desire for a safer school environment, dissatisfaction with academic instruction, and the ability to provide moral or religious guidance. We will not rest until every family is secure in its right to choose.
