I’m writing you today because I need your help.
On Wednesday a bill to REVOKE the Congressional charter of the National Education Association (NEA) was filed in Congress! 📜
What is the National Education Association and what does this mean?
The NEA is the largest labor union in the United States. It claims to represent about 3 MILLION members — mostly in public schools.
It was originally created to promote education and elevate the teaching profession.
👉 But today it operates more like a powerful political machine that influences what’s taught in schools, often who gets elected, and what education legislation gets filed all over the country.
In the 2024 cycle alone the NEA’s PAC pumped about $27 million into state and local elections — and spent another $2.8 million on federal lobbying.
This means that the NEA is shaping legislatures all over the county, ensuring that politicians who will advance their insane, woke agenda make it into office.
Why does this matter to homeschoolers? After all, we don’t have to pay dues to their teachers’ union, and we don’t have to use their curriculum, etc!
Well, simply put, this lobby group controls a lot of the legislation that affects homeschooling.
States that are attacking homeschooling, filing bills to track and trace and regulate us? They’re being pushed to do so by the NEA’s lobby arm!
The politicians filing these bills that would destroy homeschooling? Almost always were helped into office — and are protected once they’re in office — by the NEA.
But there is some good news — and a way that homeschoolers can fight back!
Representative Mark Harris (North Carolina) has filed a bill in Congress that would remove the Federal charter that allows the NEA to operate.
This legislation is quickly getting traction, with new co-sponsors already signing on. But you can be sure that the NEA will throw its political weight around and do everything they can to shut this down.
But we have an opportunity while Republicans hold a slim majority in Congress and Donald Trump is in the White House to PUSH BACK and protect homeschooling from the NEA — for good!
