You already know that there’s a fight raging in Texas right now over SB2/HB3, the so called “school choice” bill.
But the whole reason we’re having to wage this fight over fake ‘School Choice’ bills is because of something even more sinister.
If you follow homeschooling groups in Texas, you’ve likely seen the Texas Home School Coalition lauding these terrible versions of ‘School Choice’ — while thousands of homeschoolers have to do THSC’s job of protecting homeschooling from government overreach.
Now, just this week, THSC sent out an email celebrating the Senate’s passing of SJR 12, the Constitutional Amendment that THSC says is a big win for homeschoolers.
In their email, they claim this amendment:
“places protections directly into the Texas Constitution prohibiting the state from regulating homeschools and private schools, ensuring that educational freedom is protected for generations to come.”
You might think this is a good thing — a move in the right direction!
But we’re here to tell you the truth: This amendment is a giant nothingburger. And worse than that, this Amendment doesn’t offer any additional protections to homeschoolers, it only offers protection to politicians at election time, who are counting on YOUR vote for re-election.
The danger here is that not only does this amendment do absolutely nothing new for homeschoolers — it gives political cover to RINO’s in Austin while giving THSC grounds to claim a “Victory” in Texas.

As you just saw in the video:
- SJR 12 is a redundant measure that offers NO additional constitutional protection beyond what we already have.
- THSC is misrepresenting the impact of this amendment to their supporters — and the likelihood that this amendment could pass a “popular vote” this fall.
- The real agenda behind THSC’s push for this ineffective amendment, especially considering they take in approximately one and a half MILLION dollars annually from Texas homeschoolers. They’ve openly endorsed bills that tens of thousands of Texas homeschoolers hate. They have to do something to look like they’re fighting for educational freedom!
Homeschoolers in Texas are being lied to about this amendment. Help us get this message out by sharing this email or the video post!
And since it’s clear that THSC is not fighting for homeschooling, the job falls to you and me.
