Here is the current situation at the Capitol. Tomorrow morning, bright and early, H.B. 3 will be heard in Texas House Public Education Committee.
At the same time, the Texas Home School Coalition has planned their capitol day to provide legislators with photo ops of well-intentioned families who have been mislead to believe that H.B. 3 and S.B. 2 pose no risk to homeschooling in the long term.
Their real intention seems to simply be massaging the backs of their legislative allies and growing the pool of homeschoolers who will pay them to ‘defend’ their homeschooling rights.
They are certainly not taking a clear and bold stand to defend homeschooling now and in the future — something Texas families have long paid them to do.
The fight is in your hands now! Our state advocacy organization has abandoned the field. It’s time for grassroots homeschoolers to GET LOUD!

To be clear, the Homeschool Freedom Coalition is not opposed to all school choice.
We are all for returning the tax dollars of hardworking families to them so they can homeschool their families more effectively.
We are strong advocates for withdrawing children from the public school system and all for homeschoolers getting back money that is rightfully theirs.
However, this bill, H.B. 3 (and S.B. 2 in the Senate) is NOT the solution that homeschoolers asked for or needed.
